Prenatal childbirth classes
Being pregnant for the first time can be a bit scary. One way to counter this fear is to inform yourself on the different aspects of giving birth.
To go over all aspects of pregnancy, labour, birth, and postpartum, in order to feel informed on the different possibilities during this intense period.
If wanted we can work on a birthplan.
During the sessions we will talk about:
the different aspects of pregnancy: changing body, development of the baby, psychological changes, …
the process of birth: vaginal birth, C-section, induction, episiotomy, birth of the placenta, ...
the first 48 hours after birth: what will happen at the hospital with you and your baby?
feeding the baby: breastfeeding, formula-feeding, mixed feeding
bringing the baby home: preparing your house, safe sleep, taking care of the baby, first bath...
becoming a parent and what this does to you, as a person and as a couple (think about stress and anxiety), ...
Attention is given to you as well as to your partner.
These sessions are mainly informative. For more practical exercises on positions and strategies to cope with the contractions or take a look at the package Get informed.
This is a series of 6 sessions, each session with a duration of 2 hours.
"My husband and I highly recommend hiring Mary for all of your pre and post natal needs. We attended 6 prenatal classes with Mary which were very thorough, engaging and informative. We always left the classes feeling much more knowledgeable about the birthing process. Mary was also available outside of the classes to answer any questions we had, which was very reassuring! Thank you for everything- you are amazing!"

"Marijke planned for a customized birth class session for us; listening and understanding exactly what we needed and planning the course accordingly. What we really appreciated is that she always went the extra mile in providing research and in depth answers to our questions/ concerns, was very organized and always had positive energy! She also knows the Italian system quite well and has connections in several hospitals. This also helped us a lot in getting prepared."
